Animal Assisted Therapy

Looking for a little "Fur Therapy"?  Need a warm heart and a cold nose?

There have been a lot of questions about Animal Assisted Therapy in long term care.

Dr. Mara Baun is based in Houston and has done many studies on the benefits of companion animals.  One study can be found at http://www.deltasociety.org/Document.Doc?id=314.

In addition to being home for Dr. Baun,  Houston is blessed to have several wonderful volunteer organizations that can provide opportunities for residents of long term care to interact with animals.

The organizations listed on this page, have programs to make certain that the animals have been temperament tested, they are healthy and that owners can handle their animals.

This is stictly a resource link.  There is no attempt to promote one group or program.

If you would like to have your AAT group listed, please send information to info@ombuddies.org
